TNIUS has set up these resources to promote use of electronic databases of government orders, circulars and instructions, tender documentations and full text access to e-news from daily news papers and e-articles from journals by the research and urban community of the Tamil Nadu.
The library is giving with valuable e-resources in terms of quality and quantity in the field of urban affairs and development. This library's vision is to bring up-to-date information services to the urban community of Tamil Nadu in the field of urban affairs. The main mandate is to provide full range of documentation and information services in the area of urban affairs apart from the core resources of Government Orders, Circulars and Instructions, Government Gazettes, and Tender documentation of Tamil Nadu and India which will accept request from other user libraries via post, telephone, email or fax and delivers the information.
   
TNIUS library compiles and displays urban related articles, news items etc., appearing in the news papers, news letters, journals and magazines under the following three headings.
"Tamil Nadu Urban News" containing news items and articles on urban related issues appearing in news papers and periodicals circulated in Tamil Nadu.
"India Urban News" containing news items and articles on urban related issues appearing in news papers and periodicals at the all India level.
"Nagara Seithigal" containing news items and articles on urban related issues appearing in tamil news papers and periodicals.

TNIUS has designed this resource for displaying Government Orders and Government Gazettes related to urban development issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the circulars and important instructions issued by the Heads of Departments involved in the management of urban affairs of the state.
